Galloway Spring Show and Sale

Thursday 15th and Friday 16th February 2007.

At the Society’s Annual Spring Show and Sale, held in Wallets Mart, Castle Douglas the Maxwell Family, John, Margaret & son Duncan, Blairvockie Farm, Rowardennan, Drymen had a great day receiving the Overall Champion bull and top price of the day. Their 19 month old bull Ben Lomond Maximus, a Drumhumphry Keane son and out of the show heifer Ben Lomond Iron Lady, was purchased by M/s Fergussons, Barlaes and Nether Rusko, Dalry for 6200gns.

The reserve male was from father and son team, Robin and Alan McClymont, Kirkstead, Yarrow, their Blackcraig Kazan son Kirkstead Nancy Boy is off home with Society Vice Chairman Mr Robert McIntosh, Outer Huntly, Selkirk for 3400gns. Robin and Alan also received the reserve female championship with Kirkstead Noreen N4, this Hitman of Nether Cleugh daughter was purchased by Hunter and Lynn Smith, Wileysike, Gilsland, Carlilse for 1600gns

The Ross Family, Shawhead, Dumfries lifted the top honours within the female classes, their Diamond B Deadline daughter Sally 319 of Romesbeoch was purchased by judge Ann Finlay and husband John, Blackcraig, Corsock, Dumfries for 1100gns.

John and Ann also balanced the books by selling their 6 heifers to average £1964.55. 3600gns was the top female price for Blackcraig Blondchen M166, a Diamond B Knockout 1K daughter, this well bred heifer was purchased by Hunter and Lynn Smith, Wileysike, Gilsland, Carlisle. Next top price was also from Blackcraig, this Kirkmabreck Keepsake daughater, Blackcraig Dusty M170, was secured by German buyer Mr Jurgen Greiner for 2900gns. Blackcraig Foxglove M158 and Blackcraig Blondchen M183 realised 1400gns each to M/s McCall, Auchenhay, Corsock.
